Dr. Cynthia Diefenbeck is dually prepared as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with prescriptive authority as well as a licensed Clinical Psychologist. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from University of Pennsylvania and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her pre-doctoral psychology internship at the University of Delaware’s Center for Counseling and Student Development.
Dr. Diefenbeck’s experiences and training combine to create a unique appreciation for the biological, psychosocial, and cultural influences impacting clients. She conducts thorough psychiatric assessments, establishes differential diagnosis, and formulates a thoughtful psychodynamic formulation in order to develop a rich understanding of each client. In addition, Dr. Diefenbeck employs practical elements such as cognitive-behavior interventions and medication management in order to effect positive change. Dr. Diefenbeck strives to employ warmth, empathy, and genuineness in the therapeutic relationship.
Dr. Diefenbeck enjoys working with a wide variety of clients experiencing depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, grief and loss, and more. She works across the adult lifespan, and has particular interest in working with college students and young adults.
