Mid-Atlantic Behavioral Health is offering Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for adolescents (14-17) and adults (18+). DBT offers psychosocial skills training for the person in need of more than psychotherapy.

Facilitator

Michael Considine, PsyD, LPCMH

Dr. Considine earned his doctorate at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA and his Master's Degree from Georgian Court College Graduate School in Lakewood, NJ. Dr. Considine has a wide variety of experience that includes research, teaching, and mental health treatment. In addition to his outpatient counseling responsibilities, he has also worked at inpatient settings at various facilities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

 

Guidelines

Dialectical Behavior Therapy combines both cognitive-behavioral techniques and concepts from Eastern philosophy. It was developed to assist with emotional regulation and distress tolerance. People involved with the group learn to become more self aware about escalating emotions methods to better manage them. DBT is used in conjunction with individual therapy.
